Sunrise, Choghadiya, and Rahu Kalam depend on your latitude, the panchang above is location-independent (Tithi/Nakshatra/Yoga/Karana are global).

Live planetary state

  • Sun (sidereal), 37.5054°
  • Moon (sidereal), 119.3966°
  • Sun–Moon elongation, 81.8912°

How it's read

Tithi tracks how far the Moon has moved ahead of the Sun. Nakshatra tells you which lunar mansion the Moon is in. Yoga and Karana follow from the same positions. Sunrise and sunset are computed for your exact latitude; Choghadiya divides the day and night into eight equal slots each.

FAQ
What is Tithi?+
The lunar day. It begins when the Moon is 0° ahead of the Sun (Amavasya) and progresses 12° at a time. The bright half (Shukla Paksha) ends at Purnima (180°); the dark half (Krishna Paksha) returns to Amavasya at 360°/0°.
What is Yoga?+
The sum of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, divided into 27 equal parts of 13°20′ each. Each yoga has a quality (Siddhi, Vyaghata, Shubha, etc.) traditionally consulted for muhurta.
How is Choghadiya computed?+
We divide the daytime (sunrise to sunset) into 8 equal parts and the night (sunset to next sunrise) into 8 equal parts. The eight names rotate by weekday based on a fixed table from the classical panchang tradition.
Are these the same times my local panchang shows?+
They will match Drik Panchang and other major panchangs to within seconds. The only meaningful variation is the choice of ayanamsa for the Tithi/Nakshatra parts, where Lahiri is our default.
